Skills for Health Fundraising . . .
Skills for Health North West (Academy) works with a range of partners to support the delivery of education and learning programmes for people who wish to work, or who are currently working in the healthcare sector. All of the Academy’s programmes are ‘employer led’ which means their design and content is based on the current recruitment and training requirements of healthcare employers.
The mission of the Academy is -
“Through partnership working, we contribute to the development of a highly skilled healthcare workforce in the North West by providing opportunities for individuals seeking a career in health to realise their potential through learning, access to quality assured training, and support for their development and progression.”
Each year the Academy adopts a charity for the participants on programme to raise funds for.
In 2010 the adopted charity was Help 4 Heroes and the students completed many different activities to help raise funds such as:
- Cake sales
- Sponsored Walks
- Fancy dress fund raising Cycle Ride from Manchester to Blackpool
- Bag Packing in local supermarkets
- College fun day which included a staff member in the stocks having wet sponges thrown at them……
- Name the H4H teddy Raffles and one cadet even climbed the 3 peaks.
From July 2009 to June 2010 cadets across the Northwest raised a Total of £8121.00
The Academy will continue to support H4H until July 2012 and have already raised over £700 to date.
