Deloitte
Deloitte is one of the UK's leading business advisory firms and has chosen Help for Heroes to be their Charity of the Year. It was Deloitte employees who nominated and voted to make the Help for Heroes charity their COTY with nearly 2,000 staff picking out Help for Heroes for support.
Deloitte are tremendously excited about the opportunity to work with Help for Heroes and have put in place some exciting and innovative fundraising challenges to support our wounded Service personnel. The partnership won't just be about fundraising, however, and Deloitte will be looking for ways to support by providing the time of their people and their expertise to help the charity grow and develop. Deloitte very much look forward to being part of the continuing success of Help for Heroes and the critical and life-changing role it plays in supporting injured Servicemen and women.
Deloitte Community Investment Challenge 2010 - Kilimanjaro
In October 2010, 100 people from across Deloitte will climb Mount Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route, which rises from the Tanzanian side of the mountain. Kilimanjaro is one of Africa's most magnificent sights, and at 5,985m it is the continent's highest peak and the world's tallest freestanding volcano. Deloitte is aiming to raise £250,000 from the Challenge and part of this fundraising will come to Help for Heroes.
Each participant on the challenge has their own unique and inspiring reason for completing the challenge. Jane Lodge, Senior Partner, shares her story below:
"This challenge is unlike anything I have ever done before. I left school, went straight to University, then onto Deloitte, married, admitted into the partnership, became Mum to three children and I have worked in the firm for the last 34 years. I have faced and overcome many challenges during this time, all of which have helped shape me into the person I am today.
"I never took a gap year or extended maternity leave and look to the CI Challenge to finally give me the time and opportunity to do something different and special - and help raise a lot of money for our charity partners! All four charity partners have significance to me, ranging from family deaths due to cancer to a firm belief that we all need to do something positive to combat climate change. My son was treated on the same ward in Selly Oak Hospital as our military casualties following a car accident which really brought home the impact on our young men and women. The CI Challenge is my way of taking time to make a difference."
