“I am writing to thank you for all your efforts and hard work with the Battle Back initiative… Please also pass on my thanks to all who have assisted you, whether administratively or on the slopes. Thank you all.” General Sir Richard Dannatt, Chief of the General Staff.
“We could not have enjoyed the visit more and were, as ever, inspired and humbled by the guys (and girl!) on the course. Of course thanks also go to Ash Clare and your team of instructors and helpers who have done so much themselves to make it all possible. Let this first course be the first of many – and be assured, I will retain a very close interest for the future!” Lieutenant General Richard Shirreff, COMARRC.
“Battle Back was a stroke of genius! All his life my son xxxx has excelled in physical activities - martial arts, hiking, all sorts of sports, swimming and diving, sailing, cycling - even yoga. Then on 21st January 2007 the whole of his right leg was blown off by a roadside bomb. The doctors in Iraq, in Selly Oak and then Headley Court healed him physically but it took over a year for him to regain his strength and for his mind to accept the changes in his life. Then Battle Back took xxxx skiing in Bavaria and when I saw the video of xxxx flying I could see that joy had come back into his life. Thank you.” Mother of Ex SNOW WARRIOR (Adaptive) 08 Student.
“I just wanted to e-mail to say thank you for taking xxxx skiing. It sounds and looks (from what I have seen on the news) that he had an amazing time and to be honest I haven't seen him smile like this for a long time.” Wife of Ex SNOW WARRIOR (Adaptive) 08 Student.
“What a brilliant time I had out in Bavaria. I honestly can't remember having that much fun on two legs let alone one! It was a true success.” Ex SNOW WARRIOR (Adaptive) 08 Student.
“Hi sir just want to say thank you once again for a brilliant time, it was good to see everyone with a smile on their face. I can't wait to get on the snow again.” Ex SNOW WARRIOR (Adaptive) 08 Student.
When I was in hospital I would have said that my life was over. Now I know it’s not - it’s just starting. Ex SNOW WARRIOR (Adaptive) 08 Student and Adaptive Water-Skier.
“Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of Snow Warrior (Adaptive) 08. I will say, unreservedly, that it was been the most rewarding and enjoyable evolution I have ever undertaken in my career. You commented (in The Times) about how Instructors/helpers gained from the exercise by gaining a greater acceptance and knowledge of disabilities. I hadn't realised until that point how true that is and how much I had personally gained from that side of the exercise. It also fires you with a real determination because if these guys/girls can overcome their massive disabilities then we should be able to tackle normal tasks with much greater tenacity.” Ex SNOW WARRIOR (Adaptive) 08 Assistant.
