GRANNY'S FRUITED SCONES

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 12 minutes
Makes 6 – 8 Scones
8oz plain flour
½ teaspoon of salt
½ teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda
1 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
1 ½ oz of margarine
1 oz caster sugar
1 - 1 ½ oz dried mixed fruits
¼ pint of milk
1. Sieve together the flour, salt, Bicarbonate of Soda, Cream of Tartar into a bowl.
2. Rub in the margarine, then add the sugar and chosen fruit. Mix into a soft but not sticky dough adding milk as needed. Once dough consistency is reached knead until smooth.
3. Roll out fairly think and cut into 2 ½ inch rounds.
4. Bake on a greased tray at gas mark 7 or 425 F for approx. 12 mins in the centre of the oven.
