Introduction
Tedworth House is the flagship of five UK wide Personnel Recovery Centres which form the Defence Recovery capability (DRC).
Tedworth House is a place of opportunities, providing education, training, sport and adventure in a relaxed, understanding and caring environment. State of the art facilities and dedicated staff aid the road to recovery.
Tedworth House is ideally located for its role as a Personnel Recovery and Assessment Centre (PRAC). It is based in the garrison town of Tidworth and the surrounding area is home to many military units. The building is listed and has been owned by the Army since 1897, most recently being used as an Officers’ Mess.
Help for Heroes has leased the building for £1 a year for the next 99 years. A £20 million renovation project is being carried out and the first of our wounded, injured and sick started at the house in July 2011. By September 2012, it will be operating at full capacity and able to accommodate 54 residents and many more day visitors.
As a PRAC, it provides the facilities to support the two key parts of the recovery process; the holistic life skills course and the activities to get the wounded, sick and injured back out doing what they enjoy the most.
The Tedworth House mission statement best explains why we’re here:
“To inspire our wounded, injured, sick and returning veterans to lead active independent and fulfilling lives which will enable them to reach their full potential and to support them, and their families, for life.”
